At 9.00 p.m. on Sunday 20th September, after 'eighty blistering miles', as their tee-shirts proudly proclaimed, and navigating 30 locks over two fourteen-hour days, the last two boats arrived at KGS boathouse having completed the sponsored row along the Thames from Oxford.
Over twenty boats, from eights to singles, crewed by over a hundred pupils, parents and Old Kingstonians, took part to raise money for Cancer Research, help upgrade the boathouse and experience something they will never forget. One boy capsized, one girl fell out of an eight and many backs, bottoms and hands felt sore, but everyone completed the course, thanks to the support of the Sherriff Club, an army of parents, Mr Greenaway and the team of coaches.
This was a tremendous achievement. Well done to everyone who was involved in every way. |
